The Hoffman's (Dream Team's) score card!

How cool is this picture! If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you will see this gentlemen just took the shot. The gun is discharging the shotgun shell with the clay pigeon to the left on the picture not broke, yet just after this picture was taken, he broke it! Digital camera's really do freeze the image. . .I enlarged this photo and actually can see the shot string about have way to the target! Neat!

A break in the storm. . .Time for another round. Hurry, before the next wave comes in!

6-17-2010: At the Nicollet Conservation Club for a night of trap shooting. It was a real active night for thunder storms with the real strong storms sliding off to the East and damaging tornado storms happening up North in Wadena, MN killing two people with others being injured as reported at the time this was written.

The Soap House. . .1:00 p.m. sharp on Sunday at Ken Weerts. . .Instructions in hand, Merri Larson got her pencil sharpen for figuring the amount of ingredients required for the first batch of soap to be made.

A perfect day. . .Trish Larson sat, waiting to oversee the procedure and that they followed the instructions with only tich amounts to be allowed in making the proper mixture.

Ken, using his cell phone, wanted to use his phone a friend for one of his life lines to ensure the mixture will work when using tich amounts.

Trish explained to him that tich amounts are used all the time when cooking food. . .so why not when making soap?

Merri said. . ."We can use two tich amounts when putting the the dye in. . .Really!"

Trish was in total compliance and told Ken. . ."See, look at how pretty your soap is going to be!"

Steve Nixt asked "Do you have a copy right on your motion potion?" Ken stated, "Look at these ingredients. . .Who could copy this?"

Nixt agreed and said "What is this word? I can't even pronounce it!" Hell, you guys make it and I'll sell it! Let me call my friend at Walmart and we will make millions!"

The experts on their last batch of soap. . .Ken and Merri are kicking around the ideas for the Logo on Ken's SS Soap.

Mike Larson (not pictured) is running off to get his rifle shouting. . ."Alright Ken, we will settle the percentages the old fashion way. . .Meet me outside at high noon!"

Mike (a.k.a. Milo Sharps) Larson and Ken (a.k.a. Uncle Fester) Weerts in the middle of their negotiation's over the percentage amount to be shared for the millions to be made on Ken's SS "Love Potion Soap".

HALLOWEEN SHOOT 1998 - A tradition that started in 1983.
Pictured is Pat Conroy, Robert and Eric Larson, Richard Theissen and Bill Zimmerman. Well, what can I say. . .I took the picture and maybe bagged one of the ducks! These guys were relentless! This was an all days event with breakfast and lunch done in shifts. . .meaning our hunting spot was never left unattended. . .As one group of hunters would come in to eat the others just kept banging away! It sure was a good thing all help in cleaning the birds. . .DAD! ha. . .There will be plans for a super Halloween Shoot for 2010! Contact Bill Zimmerman for the details! Trick or Treat!

My Brother's first duck. . .just like his older brother (that would be me), bagged a teal while we were jump shooting. And, no, he was not using the riot model 12 he is holding. . .he got his first duck using a single shot 20 gauge.
It is surprising what a person remembers. . .He bagged this teal just outside of woody bay while were pushing through the shore line of cattails almost in front of Weertzie's (the Park Rangers) cabin on Currier's Bay. I will never forget the look on his face when it fell and hit the water. . .Priceless!
I know everyone has their first duck story. . .This one was his threw my eyes! Well, he now hunts the big water for ducks and geese. . .And is a true addict when it comes to waterfowl!

My father (Robert Larson) and neighbor/friend Frank Phlaum bagged these two geese in the north end of Peterson Bay I believe in the fall of 1971.
I remember this day, like it was just yesterday, even though I was only about 10 years old. . .These two men were just like boys when they came back in to the cabin. Laughing and ribbing each other on their days event. . .Man, how I was envious!
I couldn't wait to start hunting with them. . .They got a snow and a blue goose on a perfect blue bird day! Oh, yea. . .they also had 14 ducks too! I remember most of them being mallards and a few gadwalls.
I think my Dad had those cut off jeans for like 25 years! He probably had those on under his work coveralls when he and Frank were out hunting. . .HA!

Robert D. Larson

Picture taken in 1947 of Robert D. Larson with a few ducks he bagged. Robert started everything for us "Larson Crew" (Hang Belly Lodge) at Block's Point back in 1965 when he purchased a small camping trailer and parked it on the South Point next to the old Klueker's cabin that has since been replace with Scott & Kim Umhoefer's new cottage.
Reuben Larson (Robert's Father) was best friends with John Block (son of Fred Block which the Point was named after) and began hunting the lake back in the early 1920's.
Robert, being the second generation hunting at Block's Point started when he was 12 years of age (1941). With his Dad, Brother Arvid (John) and friend Bob Schmitz, continued to hunt on Swan lake starting us third generation of hunters to enjoy the same beauty and excitement only Swan Lake can give.

1998 damage to the Schmitz cabin on Block's Point. Picture taken by Robert Larson. . .Bob Schmitz and Robert Larson grew up in Mankato and were good friends.
I remember the back in the 70's, after a night of tales and cocktails Bob would tell my father Robert "Don't crowd me Lars'. . .I'll be hunting the Draw in the morning. . .to this day, I still don't know what or where the Draw was for Bob. . .we never saw him.
